Nasi Lemak

>> Sunday

WHY?

I bet you that, probably 8 out of 10 nasi lemaks you eat, you can't even taste much of the rice' supposed aroma, they taste like plain rice, here at Village Park Restaurant at Uptown Damansara, the rice is aromatic and the chicken is still beatingly crunchy, though as all typical restaurants, the best would be to go in the morning, everything just done not long by then, though even in the lunch time it is still rather fresh and nice.
Parking is bad in uptown... if you dont know... so just double park and move your butt car when honed...
LOOKS?

The rice looks like this >>>>>>>

fried chicken with red spice, crunchy, aromatic rice, some cucumber, your typical half an egg in nasi lemak, sweet and spicy sambal with good texture and aroma, plus some nuts and anchovies.

Btw.. the tea ice there is slightly larger..nothing really special but i always drink that

ENVIRONMENT?

t
they have water myst sprinklers attached to their fans..so it's not really warm if u decided you wanto sit outside and smoke..... anyhows the outline of the shop is like this...drunk here...

PRICE AND LOCATION?

a
a normal plate of nasi lemak with fried chicken is 6.90 ringgit, the tea ice around 2.30 ringgit..
so head to uptown damansara and you will find it opposite DU coffee shop... the road in between this two shops lead out to a one way, which in turn leads down to the roundabout with a mosque.

RATINGS?
yep 6/10 considering that it's not really that great but if your in PJ .. then you should probably head here if you feel like eating nasi lemak.. you won't regret...

Coming up next Banna Leaf Rice , Plus Nasty FOOD

Taugeh Ayam a.k.a Ngar Choi Kai a.k.a. Bean sprout chicken

>> Saturday

my, my, my, thou art makes ye wonder how thou art flaunt thou shimmer, thou art so delicious, as how shakespeare whom art likes to eat Ngar Choi Kai too hath wrote,

"What is there in the name of a rose, That which by any other name, Would smell as sweet"
"Thou art Ngar Choi Kai, arguably the malaysian chinese' most famous dish"

This guy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Yep, even shakespeare likes to eat it, why not you? Many has claimed that only in Ipoh can you find a deceant Bean Sprout Chicken stall.. That being "Kampung Buntong or the Kam hor in Iph Garden Wolley" But!! Fret not! for those who wants a comparable taste or for those who miss home like me, you can head to Jln gasing "Kedai Nasi Ayam Ipoh", yeah i know, but it sells bean sprout chicken and alot of other related food like... roast pork(nice), horfun, hainanese rice, pork balls and sorts that you should find if ur eating bean sprout chicken in ipoh...
I wont say it's very good but , it does have ipoh standards... i,e. smooth textured chicken, slightly broiled, accurately cooked (no blood, not overcooked to become stiff), fat and juicy beansprout, nice roast pork (siu yuk) which is crunchy and not stiff, smooth fleshed hor fun, and properly layered yellow rice... See beneath!!
ok ok... no way you can eat that.... unless u behave like this guy >>>>
ok maybe still not....
our model for the meal is so full after eating everything : ) ...sorry for the lack of pics on actual food but trust me!! i've been around exploring food, to claim my reputation that this place is not bad and worth at least a monthly visit.. : )
However, there are ppl who are not convinced though ....
oh wait... his juz too full he cant show his joy.. later on... he was so happy he>>>>OBviously not us...
but there are also some that is always in denial >>>>>>>

BUT LOOK! these ppl ate there and look at them not my lecturer ms.Cheryl..
they are all filled withe estactic joy and surrender..that is what food is suppose to bring people... every single meal... chinese philosophy...
also people from this college should try out the place too

Thus, for a ipoh-tasting bean sprout chicken, head down to jln gasing... from ss2, head to rothmans roundabout, take a 9, go all way straight after the first bridge, you should see on your right the shop pictured way above... take a right turn for a u-turn and you will get to turn in..coz its a one-way... parking might seem scarce, but theres always people going about so juz wait... PRICE RANGE : 2 person with roast pork, 2 bowls yellow rice, chicken + bean sprouts for 2, 5 delicious pork noodles, and 3/4 cups of herbal drinks would average about 28-30 ringgit..
SEND ME HATE MAIL IF YOU THINK THE PLACE SUCKS.. oh btw... if the place is full, please dont go next door on the shops left side...

Its not really that good and you could be disappointed with the meat texture... hmmm..>>>pictured... disappointment...

AND!! finally... Gourmandiser J's Rating of the place of Ipoh Nostalgia is...YES!! 7 out of 10 .. i actually think its just a 6 ..slightly above average but the thing is.. its really difficult to find a bean sprout chicken shop which claims to be from ipoh and it doesn't actually suck..so i gave it a 7.. plz try it out as a means of supporting my blog.. thank you : )

Next stop, Nasty Food Column or Nasi LEMAK!! inclusive of CHEF YIP's desert section : ) stay tuned : )

Bak Kut Teh

>> Wednesday

Ahem... first posting... well...here goes..
Of late i`ve had the opportunity to come accross a bak kut teh stall reputed to be the best in K.L, Selangor and Ipoh. Though surprisingly after doing some survey, apparently many ppl have not heard of this place in SS1, yes PJ OLDTOWN... "click btm for survey results..ahem..", http://archives.chicagotribune.com/2007/oct/01/news/chi-cancer01oct01

Thus mesa journeyed to teh point with fellow grumpy slave, as of below
anyways...we arrived, and the stall looks like this

oh wait......yeah like this and also the rest..

Basically i wasn't really convinced untill we started eating of course..
Turns out it REALLY IS DAMN FRKING GOOD!!!
Most bakkutteh's soup aren't really nice as its bland but the soup is full of taste with a strong herbal aroma and much herb residues down under bowls... the meat is nicely cut and fresh, the "yao char gwai" is perfectly crunchy fresh and although is awfully hot there, the quality of the food much negates any ill feelings towards the heat, and the place is surprisingly clean though..
HOWEVER, the star of the stall is the "Mushroom in black vinegar sauce(chu keok chou)"

FUCKING GOOD .. !!!!
This was my expression with a random passerby >>>>>>

He obviously never had bark kurt terh b4...hmmmm

Basically , this stall has extremely fresh yao char gwai , the soup is legendary due to the very strong taste and herbalistic approach, being around for almost 4 years of going to klang and here, i have not found a place with any better soup.. they really aren't stingy in the recipes... : )

She ate so much she puked...

Thus, for a rewarding experience of bak kut teh with legendary soup, head to "Jln, gasing, using the rothmans roundabout in ss2, when from ss2 take a 9, head all the way down, bout 10-15 minutes till u reach the second roundabout , take a twelve, and you will see UOB bank building, with a traffic light, then take a left and that row of stalls is where the MING KEE bakkutteh is.. very delicious indeed... and there's a better one around the corner but you should try this one first...
Ordering the amount in the above pics costs about 35-41 ringgit... not much in consideration to the QUALITY!! and volume(the food in the pics looks lil but it isn't)
So.. head there !!
Ppl who din't get to eat super bak kut teh at super bak kut teh stall.. So chear up! haha...

So.. the overall rating for MING KEE BAK KUT TEH is yes a whopping 8 out of 10.

Next edition will either be Ipoh Taipeng Chee Cheong Fun in Selangor, or Ipoh Taugeh Ayam in Selangor too... hmmm try the bak kut teh out when you guys are free and tell me what you think.. go on the afternoon .. its better : )
